Ask State Legislators to Support Arts, History, and Tourism in FY22 NJ State Budget

In February, Governor Murphy proposed FY22 state appropriations for arts, history, and tourism programs that honor A3101, passed in 2020, now Public Law 2019, c.333.

These appropriations represent a 60% increase in state funds over FY21 ($31.9m for NJ State Council on the Arts, $5.5m for NJ Historical Commission, $17.6m for NJ Division of Travel & Tourism, and $720k for NJ Cultural Trust).

It is now up to the NJ State Legislature to consider the Governor’s budget proposal and present their version to the administration with the goal of passage by June 30.

NOW is the time to ask your state legislators to support these appropriations in the FY22 NJ State Budget, and detail how state funds will help arts, history, and tourism in New Jersey recover from the COVID-19 pandemic.

We all have stories to tell about the ravaged cultural and tourism industries, and know the numerous ways they positively benefit New Jersey. This is the time to tell those stories to elected officials and relay how state funds will help our state’s recovery.
